Chandigarh, March 14, 2015: Living Legend Padma Vibhushan Prof M S Swaminathan’s research encompasses a wide range of problems in basic and applied genetics and agricultural research.
He has been acclaimed by the TIME Magazine as one of the 20 most influential Asians of 20th Century.
Numerous Honours received by him include the Fellowship of the Royal Society, Raman Magsaysay Award and the first World Food Prize.
In recognition of his outstanding scientific work and lifelong commitment to human welfare, the Senate of Panjab University recommends that Prof. Swaminathan be admitted to the Degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa). / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
