Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana Rajat Agarwal on Thursday awarding certificates and books to the 34 class XI toppers of various subjects being taught at the Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Students.

 

Ludhiana, April 9, 2015: Deputy Commissioner Rajat Agarwal said that the Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Students, Ludhiana is not only helping the students academically, but is also boosting their confidence. He said that one can easily see the difference between the students studying in this school and other schools.

The DC said this while speaking to media persons after awarding certificates and books to the 34 class XI toppers of various subjects being taught at the Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Students, here today.

While speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Rajat Agarwal urged the students to work hard with utmost devotion and honesty. He said that only hard work is the key to success and class XII board exams are the most important exams because is is their result which decides which career the students would adopt.

The Deputy Commissioner said that special coaching classes have already begun since March 10 at this school where the students would be trained for institutes such as IIT, JEE-IIT, AIIMS, NIT, BITS Pilani, AFMC Pune, CA, Law, CLAT, besides other courses along with all medical and engineering institutes successfully running in the state.

A brainchild of CM Parkash Singh Badal and an initiative of the Punjab Government, students of six Senior Secondary Residential Schools for Meritorious Students have got admitted in these Schools after securing 80 percent marks in class 10th. Under this new programme, these students would be benefitted as the state government would impart them free coaching for higher education after class 12th.

Deputy Commissioner Rajat Agarwal informed that out of total 297 students, 56 students are from medical, 197 of non medical and 44 of commerce streams. The private coaching institutes would impart training till June 2015 and during this time, they would conduct atleast 500 sessions and 50 tests.

He informed that the school would very soon be connected with the hotline power connection so that the students don';t suffer in any way.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Paramjit Kaur Chahal, DEO (Secondary), School Principal Anup Passi, Regional Manager of State Bank of Patiala S K Sharma, besides several others.
