He said that the new modernised slaughter house would be fully automated.
He said that once this slaughter house is modernised, it would have a capacity for slaughtering 2,000 poultry birds an hour, 250 small animals (Halal) and 250 small animals (Jhatka). The small animals to be slaughtered at the state-of-the-art modernised slaughter house would be sheep, goat and pigs.
A S Sekhon, Joint Commissioner (Health), Ludhiana MC, informed that the modernised slaughter house will have facilities such as cutting and packing of animals. He said that people and shopkeepers willing to get their animals slaughtered in a clean environment would be benefitted in a big way as all this process would be carried on very nominal prices. He said that this would improve quality and would reduce pollution.
Now that the grant in aid of Rs 7.93 crore has been sanctioned, the Ludhiana MC would be floating the tenders for this project. Once the tendering process is completed, the modernisation of the slaughter house would start.
