MANISH Tewari assures ASHA Workers to take up their grievances with Gulam Nabi Azad

A delegation of ASHA Workers affiliated with ASHA Workers Union Punjab meets the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari at his residence at Ludhiana on Saturday evening.

Ludhiana, July 28, 2013: A delegation of ASHA Workers affiliated with ASHA Workers Union Punjab met the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari at his residence here last evening.

The delegation told Tewari that the Punjab Chief Minister and the State Health Minister had accepted the major demands of ASHA Workers. They told that the State Government is not implementing and revising their service conditions as agreed in principle.

Tewari gave patient hearing to all the demands and grievance of the ASHA workers. He assured the delegation that he will take up their demands with the Union Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad. He told the ASHA workers that he will impress upon Sh. Azad to accept the genuine demands of ASHA workers and issue suitable instructions to all the State Governments.

The demands of ASHA Workers includes fixed monthly honorarium of Rs. 2,500, restoration of pregnant lady registration fees by ASHA Worker from Rs. 60 to Rs. 200, providing mobile phones to ASHA Workers keeping in view their functioning in the rural areas, hike in TA, DA and provision of liveries for them. The delegation of the ASHA Workers was led by Union President Kirandeep Kaur Panjola, Vice President Santosh Kumari, General Secretary Kashmir Kaur and Press Secretary Manjit Kaur Rampur.
