Mamta Ashu to Municipal Commissioner: Rename indoor stadium on Pakhowal Road as Shaheed Bhagat Singh Indoor Stadium

Ludhiana, September 20, 2019: MC Councillor from ward number 67 Mamta Ashu has written a letter to the MC Commissioner and has proposed renaming of Indoor Stadium on Pakhowal Road, here, as “Shaheed Bhagat Singh Indoor Stadium”. She said that it would be a tribute to the great martyr of freedom struggle, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, whose birth anniversary falls on September 28, 2019. In this letter, Mamta Ashu said that she has come to know from area resident and former president Punjab Sahit Akademi Prof Gurbhajan Singh Gill that earlier, when this project was first planned, the name of the Indoor Stadium was proposed to be Shaheed Bhagat Singh Indoor Stadium. But over the years, no one paid heed towards this issue and that is why, sadly this proposal got delayed. She has proposed that the name of Indoor Stadium be renamed as “Shaheed Bhagat Singh Indoor Stadium” immediately. She has demanded that a portrait of Shaheed Bhagat Singh be installed in the Indoor Stadium. Mamta Ashu has also demanded from the sports department that coaches of Indoor games should be deputed in the stadium so that maximum number of players can be benefitted from this project
