Ludhiana Architects Celebrate World Earth Day

Ludhiana, April 22, 2016: World Earth Day was celebrated today in Ludhiana by architects from The Indian Institute of Architects – Punjab Chapter (IIAPC) and Indian Institute of Architects Ludhiana Centre (IIALC).
Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection.
As the population is increasing day by day so is their need for better habitat, transportation and communication and our dear Earth is left to bear the burden of this growing population. This has led to the increase in pollution, global warming etc.
Architects in Ludhiana have realized this and are working together to come up with the solutions to solve this problem. They know that:
Construction projects typically consume large amounts of materials, produce tons of waste, and use a lot of energy in the process. For mankind to preserve the planet’s ecological health there is a need to change our perception of what our buildings should look like, and blend these with nature, rather than replacing nature with concrete.
“Architects can help in making buildings more green, sustainable and adaptable to our surroundings and are energy efficient”, said Ar. Sanjay Goel, Chairman, IIAPC, adding, “Small design considerations like correct building orientation, use of appropriate energy source, renewable and energy efficient building materials and design can make a huge difference.”
