Ludhiana, September 8, 2016: A group of 20 students from Department of Urban Planning and Architecture conducted a meeting with the Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria on Thursday and interacted over various civic issues and discussed the projects being taken under smart city mission. They asked several questions to the Mayor and he answered all the queries beautifully so that they should get satisfied.
The students have been given the task of conducting study of Sarabha Nagar market in which they are checking water supply, sewerage, parking facilities, traffic problems, green areas etc in I, H and J blocks of Sarabha Nagar. Since Sarabha Nagar is selected under Smart City Mission therefore university has asked the students to conduct this study.
The Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria told that interaction with the students was really interesting and they raised questions regarding safety of residents when there were regular snatching incidents and questions like civic issues were asked. He shared that he has briefed the students about upcoming projects under smart city mission and also told them CCTV cameras are being installed throughout the city under safe city project of Punjab Police that would ensure safety of residents.
Meanwhile, one of the Board of Directors of Ludhiana Smart City Limited architect Sanjay Goel told that he had convinced the university authorities to send students for such survey in Ludhiana as it would prove beneficial for them. He said that they would conduct week long study on the basis of which they would prepare their project report.
Professor LPU Lovepreet who was accompanying the students shared that it was actually a nice experience for these students to interact with city Mayor and even this project would help these students in their studies. The students also met the area councillor Bhupinder Singh Bhinda while they were conducting study in area.
