Ludhiana, September 3, 2014: The 36th Annual Day Function of Ludhiana Management Association(LMA) was held today where six eminent persons were conferred with LMA Awards. Balramji Dass Tandon, Governor of Chhattishgarh was the Chief Guest at this function. LMA-Vardhman award for entrepreneur of the year 2013 was given to Arvind Dham, Chairman Amtek Group. Son of Arvind Dham received the award on this behalf. Prem Kumar Gupta, General Secretary, DMC managing Committee received LMA Dayanand award for manager of the year 2013.   Bhavish Aggarwal, Co-founder & CEO, Olacabs, ANI Technology Private Limited, Bangalore bagged the LMA-Trident award for young innovative entrepreneur of the year 2013. Bhavish also delivered the keynote address on the topic "Future of Ground Transport".
Rakesh Bharti Mittal, from Bharti Group was awarded LMA- Hari Chand award for corporate citizen of the year, 2013. Dr. Baldeep Singh of Deep Hospital Ludhiana bagged emerging SME of the year, 2013.  LMA-Sat Paul Mittal life time achievement award was given to Vijay Kumar Chopra of Punjab Kesari Group.
Sachit Jain, President of LMA welcomed the guests and shared brief history of LMA. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the purpose of LMA is to spread management education and to develop professionalism in different organisations. V. K. Goyal, past president conducted the award ceremony on behalf of LMA.

ARVIND DHAM
Arvind Dham heads Amtek group of companies. An architecture graduate from Panjab University, Dham is a self-made industrialist.  He started manufacturing  auto component and founded Amtek Auto. He got his chance in 1987 when Suzuki selected him as one of the vendors for Maruti. Amtek grew with Maruti.

Secretary, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (D.M.C.& H), Ludhiana since 2004, he has played a great role in the growth of this institution. He aims at  providing best health services to the people of Ludhiana. His  commitment, vision, planning & execution he has transformed the institution into a big hospital. BHAVISH AGGARWAL
Bhavish Aggarwal is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer(CEO)  at Olacabs- a cab rental service. He started Olacabs in December 2010, along with Ankit Bhati, a fellow IIT Bombay with an aim to change the way people travel by revolutionizing the personal transportation industry. The idea was to provide a service using modern technology to connect the people with transport operators, making it a win- win situation for both. What started as a Mumbai-centric plan soon became a pan-India company.
Bhavish Aggarwal belongs to the young breed of ‘start uppers’ who form the face of Indian entrepreneurship eco-system. Having graduated from IIT Bombay in 2008, Bhavish worked for Microsoft for a couple of years before calling it quits and starting up Olacabs.
Bhavish  desired to be an entrepreneur and has displayed true spirit of successful entrepreneur. He left his job with Microsoft Research to start his venture.  In just four years, Bhavish, 28, has a winning run with Olacabs. His company today has about 800 employees and is valued at more than 1000 crore.  Today, Olacab is India’s largest cab network. It brings cab drivers and customers on a single platform making transportation hassle free for everyone.  By not owning a single cab, the company fosters entrepreneurship at the driver level by enabling him to own the car and grow his business.  At present, there are over 11,000 cabs associated with Olacabs across Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi NCR, Chennai, Pune, Goa, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and the number is ever growing.
Aggarwal  was featured as one of Hindustan Times’ 30 Achievers under 30 as well as in the Forbes India list of 30 under 30 businessmen. Olacabs was recognized as the ‘Best Startup of the Year’ at the India Digital Awards- 2013 by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). He is winner of the Billionth Award South Asia- 2013 for mobile innovation as well as the Pitch Top 50 Indian Brands- 2014. He was the youngest to get the Young Alumnus Award by IIT Mumbai.

VIJAY KUMAR CHOPRA
Vijay Kumar Chopra is Editor-in-Chief and publisher of Hind Samachar Group of Newspapers since 1984. The   newspapers   have  won   numerous  national   awards  for    excellence in printing  from  the  Govt. of  India  and  All  India  Federation of Master Printers, including the    Award  for best printing at  the  5th World Print Congress, 1993.
Born on 31st January, 1932 at Lyallpur ( now in Pakistan), he had his graduation from D.A.V. College, Jalandhar in 1955. Thereafter he took advanced training in printing technology at Leipzig (Germany) and newspaper management training from Thompson Foundation United Kingdom
Chopra has made invaluable contributions to the journalism world as well as to the society. He is  a father like figure when it comes to journalism and social service. He is one of the most respected  and committed journalists in the country. Not only he has documented history with his pen but he created history in 1974 by running his  rotary  press  with   a tractor  to print the newspaper, when  power supply  to his press was denied for political reasons, during emergency. He was determined not to miss the publication of his paper even for one day. He is a proficient  entrepreneur who brought his organization to the top fighting the stiff competition. He always wanted to be a leader in his category and all his awards and achievements are the outcome of his this quality. With the three beliefs of technology up gradation, team building and strong value system have made him stand out and shine all his life.
When it comes to serving the society, he puts all his heart and soul into it. He gathers money from people and use it ideally for the amelioration of the society. As administrator   of   'Shaheed Parivar Fund'  for    providing    help  to  the dependents of terrorists victims, he has collected and distributed Rs.11.19 crore. He has always  been on the forefront to the help the underprivileged and sufferers during national calamities. He has raised and distributed relief funds from time to time. In addition, to help the displaced/migrants of the border areas of Jammu & Kashmir he has sent 372 truckloads of rations and other articles to different areas in J&K.    
A widely traveled man, Chopra  has won several prestigious national awards which include; ‘TAMAR PATRA’   by   the Govt. of India  for  contributions during the national independence movement.; ‘Padam Shri’ (1990);FIE Award (1990) ;  Munshi Prem Chand Award (1991) for fearless and impartial journalism; Saraswati Award (1994); Punjab Ratan Award ;  and Amity Media Excellence Award. His name has been    included  in   the  Limca  Book  of  Records  1997 as  the  writer of  the longest travelogue.

RAKESH BHARTI MITTAL
Rakesh Bharti Mittal is the Vice-Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, one of India’s leading business group.  He is the co- chairperson of Bharti Foundation- the philanthropic wing of Bharti Enterprises which was established in 2000 with a vision "To help underprivileged children and young people of our country realize their potential". Bharti Foundation was chosen as the “Corporate Citizen of the Year” at the Economic Times Awards 2010.
Mittal  firmly believes that a responsible corporate has a duty to give back to the society in which it operates. A passionate advocate of right to good education, he is force behind Bharti Foundation which is  running The Satya Bharti School Program, considered one of the largest end-to-end rural education initiatives in India. The program delivers quality education, free of cost to underprivileged children in rural India with a focus on the girl child. It is committed to develop the students into self-reliant individuals with a deep sense of social commitment. This partnership is greatly helping the Government schools to enhance the quality of education through need-based interventions along with ensuring optimal utilization of Government resources
To further satisfy his zeal to bring improvements in education sector,  Mr Mittal is on boards of several educational institutions. He has served on the Advisory Council of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Delhi, and as a member of the Board of Governors of Thapar University. He is currently on the Governing Body of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). He was the Chairman of CII National Council on Agriculture (2009 – 2013) and has also served as the Chairman of several national committees of CII. He devotes his time to several charitable institutions in India.
Mittal has been awarded the Honorary Doctor of Civil Law Degree by Newcastle University, UK. He also serves as Honorary Consul for Republic of Sierra Leone in India.
