Infosys bags this year's Mother Teresa Award for Corporate Citizenship
Chennai, January 29, 2018: Loyola Institute of Business Administration - LIBA's annual flagship conference BEACON focusing on the promotion of ethical standards, was inaugurated by the US Consul General Mr.Robert Burgess. This year, the event witnessed Infosys Ltd being rewarded the prestigious Mother Teresa Award for Corporate Citizenship.
The theme for the day-long conference was “Leadership and Ethics for the New India” which focused on providing a direction to build a strong business platform for emerging leaders. The conference was spread across two sessions with various industry experts including Dr.V. M.Rajasekaran, CEO, ITC Limited (Matches and Agarbathis Division), Ms. Jahanzeb Akhtar, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax - Government of India, Mr C K Ranganathan, CMD, CavinKare Pvt Ltd. addressing various key aspects of ethical leadership in the context of new India.
Infosys Ltd., a global leader in technology services and consulting was awarded the renowned Mother Teresa Award for Corporate Citizenship. Instituted by LIBA in 1998, the award is presented every year to a company that has shown exemplary commitment to the ideals of corporate citizenship. This year's panel of jury consisted of experts from varying industries academia and former government officials. Shri. M.M. Rajendran IAS, Former Governor of Orissa presented it to Infosys and the report was given by Mr. N. Vittal, IAS (Retd.), Former Chief Vigilance Commissioner, Govt. of India. Mr. Surya, Associate, Vice President, Infosys Limited accepted the award on behalf of the company.
Commenting on the occasion, Fr. Christie, SJ, Director, LIBA said, “The award is an annual honour given to a company which has gone far and beyond its regular works to promote welfare activities for the benefit of the poor and marginalised sections. This year's worthy winner, Infosys is being rewarded for displaying exemplary commitment to the ideals of corporate citizenship. We are proud to play a small yet defenitive role in creating an effective change in the society.
