KRISHI VIGYAN KENDRA LANGROYA CELEBRATED FIELD DAY ON MAIZE CROP

Ludhiana, October 4, 2017: Under the guidance of Dr Jugraj Singh, Deputy Director (Trg.), KVK, Langroya celebrated a field day on maize crop on 04.10.23017 in the village Mirjapur, Block Aur. Maize crop was sown by Mr.Lovepreet Singh by getting the seed of maize variety PMH-1 along with proper guidance from KVK, Langroya. This program was attended by about 52 farmers.
A team of experts from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana comprising of Dr Gurmeet Singh, Dr.Gurjeet Kaur and Dr Jagroop Kaur attended the program as main speakers. Program was commenced by Dr Manpreet Jaidka by welcoming the farmers and team of scientist from PAU, Ludhiana.

Dr Gurmeet Singh discussed the use of leaf color chart (LCC) in maize for the judicious use of nitrogenous fertilizers. Dr Gurjeet Kaur addressed the farmers regarding different varieties of maize crop recommended by PAU along with their characteristic features. Dr Jagroop Kaur discussed the management practices for profitable cultivation of maize crop.
Dr Jugraj Singh discussed various options for rice straw management along with technological interventions. Farmers showed a keen interest in the discussion and appreciated the advancement in the agricultural research and possibilities in the straw management system.
Dr Navjot Singh explained the role of vegetable cultivation in crop diversification. Dr Tejbeer Singh discussed management practices to be followed for rearing of dairy animals.
