KRISHI VIGYAN KENDRA FARIDKOT ORGANIZED FARMER AWARENESS CAMP

Ludhiana, Octber 4, 2017: KVK Faridkot under the guidance of Dr Jagdish Grover, Associate Director (T) organized a Farmer Awareness camp at village Romana Albel Singh, one of the KVK adopted villages. In this camp, a total of 123 farmers and Farm women participated. The main objective of this camp was to create awareness among farmers regarding straw management after paddy harvesting & environment protection and also to train farm women to prepare adulteration free sweets at home. Dr Jaswinder Kaur Brar, Professor (Home Sci.) educated farmwomen to prepare nutritionally enriched food items for making the diet balanced. Dr Pradeep Goyal, DES (SM), FASC Faridkot educated farmers regarding management of pests in Basmati cultivation and discussed about the new wheat varieties released by PAU. Dr Gurdarshan Singh, Assistant Prof. (Hort.) motivated farmers to adopt kitchen gardening. Dr Munish Kumar Assistant Prof. (Animal sci.) emphasized the need of awareness for scientific livestock management for better health and production of dairy animals. He also elaborated the signs and preventive measures for worm infestations in animals.

Dr Jagdish Grover concluded the camp by enlightening farmers regarding technologies available for straw management. He also motivated farmers for adoption of subsidiary occupations along with their general farming practice for doubling their income. In the end, to promote kitchen gardening, farmers were provided with the vegetable kits. Progressive farmers of the village appreciated the efforts made by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Faridkot.
