Jalandhar, November 21, 2016: Women Studies Centre of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar organised an Open House with the aim to provide students a platform to share their thoughts and experiences on issues related to women. Principal Prof.Atima Sharma Dwivedi chaired this interactive session and acquainted the students with the aims and activities of women studies centre. She motivated the students to overcome their inhibitions and fears. With her wise words, she set the tone for the students to respond and share their views. The session witnessed the overwhelming participation by students. Some students cited instances where they took independent decisions despite parents’ reluctance. A few students also shared the experience of their sisters and friends on issues related to harassment and gender discrimination at work places. A couple of students cited personal examples to caution against taking rash decisions and give strong message to fellow students to respect their parents and their opinions. The queries of the students were excellently answered by Principal and Director Women Studies Centre Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Dr. Madhumeet, Dean Student Welfare and Mrs. Amarpreet Khurana, co-ordinator, Women Studies Centre. The activity proved very fruitful for the audience. Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of Mrs. Amarpreet Khurana for conducting the session immaculately.
