Khanna,( Ludhiana), November 21, 2018: Delhi Public School celebrated its 8th Founders Day where patriotic fervour was at its zenith. The students staged one of the memorable battles of the world ‘Jung-e-Saragarhi’ and enlightened the audience about its historical importance.
Lt.General B.S.Sachar was the chief guest. He addressed the audience informing them that the battle of Saragarhi is one of the top ten battles of the world. The Sikh soldiers exhibited the best example of bravery. It is remarkable that in September 1897, twenty-one Sikh soldiers and a cook (36 Regiment) faced more than 10,000 Afghan soldiers. They killed more than 600 enemy soldiers under the able leadership of Havildar Ishar Singh. In this battle all of them sacrificed their lives. Lt. Gen. Sachar appreciated the initiative taken by the school authorities to portray the deeds of heroism by the dutiful warriors and spread awareness regarding its historical importance. He told the students that they are privileged to gain education from such a renowned institution. He inspired the teachers to put their best efforts for the all-round development of the students and enlighten their mind and soul.
The Chairperson of the school, D. S. Bains, addressed the students and he said that a person can never prosper and achieve success without education. Life is incomplete without this treasure. He added that inculcation of such moral values amongst students and whole-hearted participation by them in the acts of kindness makes the teaching-learning process livelier and purer. It helps to bring better results in order to cater the needs of the society.
Greeting the Guest of the Day, the Principal, Mr. S. Mukherjee applauded the students who brought laurels by excelling in fields like sports, academics, oratory, art and photography during the school report. He said that DPS Khanna is on the top in the area and is prospering by leaps and bounds in scholastic as well as co-scholastic areas. He told everyone proudly that the students of the school participate in cultural activities overwhelmingly apart from studies and sports. The elites of the society along with the students and their parents were present on this memorable occasion.
