KMV, Jalandhar on Friday organising an Extension Lecture on Human Rights.
Jalandhar, October 23, 2015: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar organised an Extension Lecture on Human Rights & Recent Migrant Crisis in Europe. A renowned scholar Dr. Sheetal Sharma from Jawahar Lal Nehru University’s Centre for European Studies was the guest speaker. She spoke on the topic “Human Rights & Recent Migrant Crisis in Europe
In her discourse, Dr.Sheetal shed light on the various aspects of the recent refugee crisis in various countries of European Union, and its interface with the protection of the Human Rights of the refugees. She also interacted in a question-answer form with the students present during the lecture. Dr. Sheetal elaborated the concept of Human Rights and dwelled on the future of Human Rights in the European Union in the context of Multiculturalism and problems associated with it in Europe. In her interactive session with the students, she pondered over the future evolution of European Union vis-a-vis the protection of Human Rights of migrants and refugees.
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi thanked Dr. Sheetal for her kind presence as it has helped students gain a lot of knowledge on the pertinent issue of Human Rights. Mrs. Ashima Sahni, HOD, political science department extended the vote of thanks to Dr. Sheetal, the erudite speaker on the occasion.
