KMV observed World AIDS Day

Jalandhar, December 1, 2016: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar’s Saplings of Life Club, Red Ribbon Club which operate under the aegis of Department of Student observed World AIDS Day. Students made Red Ribbon and distributed them to their fellow students to make them aware of the significance of this particular day. A Mobile Quiz was organized and students were asked some questions on this fell disease. Presentations providing valuable information dispelling the myths regarding AIDS were made by students and faculty members alike. Dr.Madhumeet, Dean Student Welfare asked the students to impart the precious knowledge regarding this disease to whosoever they find is in need of the information AIDS tests are carried out under complete secrecy in special centres at Civil Hospital. The identity of the victim in never disclosed. Timely help can help the victims improve the quality of life. Mrs. Sadhana Tandon, Head, Dept. of Zoology threw light on the causes, precautions and treatment of this fell disease. Then a solemn oath to spread awareness regarding social menaces like AIDS was taken by all the students and faculty members. They pledged to serve the society and help the suffering people around them. Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal KMV appreciated Dr. Madhumeet & Mrs. Sadhana Tandon who are both co-incharges of Red Ribbon Club & Saplings of Club and Mrs. Veena Deepak for this initiative. She maintained that AIDS has acquired monstrous proportions and awareness regarding this fatal disease can play a pivotal role in curbing the menace. Further adumbrated that we should serve humanity and start from serving those around us. Empathy and compassion should be imbibed by us in our conduct. Educational institutions are the best places to spread awareness. Therefore observance of World AIDS Day is a regular annual feature at KMV. Many seminars and other activities pertaining to the awareness of AIDS are carried out at KMV from time to time.
