KMV DDU KAUSHAL KENDRA PROVIDES VOCATIONAL EDUCATION TO GIRL STUDENTS OF ECONOMICALLY WEAKER SECTIONS

100 PERCENT FEE CONCESSION FOR SC/ST GIRL STUDENTS
Jalandha, June 4, 2017: With an aim to provide vocational education to the girls belonging to economically weaker sections of the society Kanya Maha Vidyalaya has been providing six job oriented skill development graduation courses at its Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Kaushal Kendra established under National Skill Development Scheme of Union Human Resource Development Ministry. KMV is one of 48 educational institutes of the country which got sanctioned this skill development centre.
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya Jalandhar Principal Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi has revealed that six vocational courses including Photography & Journalism, Animation, Management and Secretarial Practices, Retail Management, Textile Designing and Apparel Technology, Nutrition, Exercise and Health, are being provided at minimum fees set-up so that the girls belonged to the economically weaker sections can get quality job oriented education. Dr. Dwivedi has further informed that under the scheme the institution is providing hundred percent fee concession to the SC/ST students and even institute is giving 25 to 75 percent fee concession to the general category students considering the economic condition of their families.
Dr. Dwivedi said that the syllabus and practical components of these vocational courses have been designed as per the requirements of the respective industries and occupational fields so that the students could get easy job access after completion of course. `` Besides academic studies the emphasis is given on personal growth of the students by improving their communication skills, public speaking and writing which are integral parts of every professional arena. The collage has signed MoUs with 34 prominent industries of different fields to enhance placement possibilities for the skilled students `` said Dr. Dwivedi adding further that KMV is only education institution in Punjab which is running skill development centre.

Terming it a leap forward to contribute in the field of girl’s education on part of the institution, collage Principal has appealed to the girls to get benefited of this scheme to fulfill their dreams of higher education. Any girl who has passed 10+2 class in any stream and of any age group is eligible to get admission in these job oriented courses. Principal has also informed that besides this KMV, the Institute with Heritage status is providing various graduation and post courses in different streams including Medical, Non-Medical, Commerce, Humanities, Fashion Designing, Journalism & Mass Communication, Cosmetology etc.
