Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organises Gender Awareness Week

Gender Awareness Week being organised by Kanya Maha Vidyalaya at Jalandhar. 

Jalandhar, August 18, 2015: Women’s Studies Centre of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar organised Gender Awareness Week. The aim of celebrating this week is to sensitise students about gender equality and create empowered girls through capacity building. Various competitions and activities will be organised for the students. Chart and Poster Making competition, Paper presentation and Poster Making competition, Paper presentation, Debate and Declamation, Skit, Play, Group Discussion and a rally will be organised to create awareness about women’s issues. On the first day of Gender Awareness week, an interactive session was held where Principal, Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi acquainted the students with the purpose and aims of Women’s Studies Centre. Speaking on the occasion, Principal said that a woman should have awareness about various aspects of her life which impact her, should identify those areas which obstruct her growth as a fully grown individual, and should know what has to be done to improve the situation. Principal said that a woman should be self reliant and should be strong enough to fight for her respect and safety in society. She also urged the girls to raise their voice against injustice and exploitation. In this interactive session, students participated actively and discussed their problems with Principal. The queries of students were excellently answered by Principal. Mrs Amanpreet Khurana, Dean Women Studies Centre, expressed gratitude towards Principal  Dr Atima Sharma.
