Kambal Play Performance at KMV leaves the Audience Spell Bound
Jalandhar, February 7, 2019: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya - the Autonomous & Heritage institution, Jalandhar's PG Department of Journalism & Mass Communication organized the showcasing of a Play titled Kambal based on Munshi Premchand's story "Poos Ki Raat". The play was enacted by Dr Anup Kumar and his team of artists from Utsav Kala Manch. The play was performed in the jam packed college auditorium in which all the faculty members and the students of KMV were present. The plot of the play revolves around a poor farmer and his wife who is in a desperate need of a blanket in order to survive the chill of the winter. During the play, artists very perfectly depicted the pathetic conditions of the farmers and portrayed that how the farmers in the villages are exploited by the landlords. It was shown in the play that how a poor farmer has to borrow a small amount of money to buy a blanket but in the end he was unable to manage the money for it. During the end of the play the artists made an effort to give out a message to the audience that suicide committed by the farmers are not the solution to their problems but instead they should become strong enough in order to overcome the hurdles of life. Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the director and the artists of the play for successfully enacting the play in the college and also lauded the efforts of Dr Madhumeet, Dean, Department of JMC, Mrs Manpreet Kaur, Mr Sehajpal Singh, Mr Sandeep Singh, Mrs Nidhi Sharma and Ms Sumedha Sehgal from the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication for organizing such activities. She averred that the message given through the play proves to be an eye-opener for all of us as it clearly depicts how the poor farmers of our country are being exploited by the rich landlords. She also adumbrated that the play also gives a positive message that escaping from the problem is not the solution but the real solution lies in facing the challenges of life and trying to overcome those challenges with a strong heart.
