Indian held in Nepal for selling pirated movies

Kathmandu, May 6 (IANS) Nepal Police have arrested an Indian for selling Indian, Nepali and English movies in violation of copyright laws.

Dipak Kumar Gupta of Sitamarhi in Bihar, who rented a flat here, was held Monday evening.

Police raided the flat and seized three machines for copying movies, DVDs and posters of Indian, Nepali and English movies, four computers, 2,500 CDs of Nepali, Indian and English movies along with 100 blank CDs.

On Tuesday, a Kathmandu court remanded him in police custody until Friday.

If found guilty, Gupta can be fined between Rs.10,000 and Rs.100,000 or get jailed up to six months or both.
