Inaugural Ceremony of Skill Enhancing M.Voc Programmes and Certificate Courses at KMV

First College to introduce M.Voc. in Animation & VFX and M.Voc in Retail Management
Jalandhar, November 6, 2018: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Autonomous & Heritage Institution, Jalandhar has the credit of being the first college affiliated with Guru Nanak Dev University to be awarded DDU Kaushal Kendra by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in 2015. This year another feather has been added to the highly embellished cap of KMV by the introduction of M.Voc program in Animation & VFX, M.Voc in Retail Management and M.Voc in Textile Design and Apparel Technology. It is worth a mention here that KMV is the only college to run M.Voc programmes in these courses. B.Voc in Beauty & Wellness has also been introduced in this session. Certificate courses in French Language Proficiency Level I, Spoken English Proficiency Level I, Diet Assistant, Graphic Designing, Video Editing, Makeup Artist, Assistant Fashion Designer, Data Entry Operator and Vedic Mathematics have also been started from this session. These certificate courses provide an add on facility of the students to develop requisite skills. These courses will run along with the already very successfully running B.Voc programmes in Management & Secretarial Practices, Nutrition, Exercise & Health, Retail Management and Textile Design & Apparel Technology. The centre for these Skill Development Courses was inaugurated by Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi. She apprised the students about the outstanding growth and progress of DDU Kaushal Kendra in a very short span of three years. She also made the students aware of job prospects during and after completion of these graduation and post graduation courses. She emphasized that in the current scenario, to become job ready and employable, students need to acquire certain skills besides the routine classroom learning. She further averred that the certification will be by Sector Skill Council, Govt. of India and Degree by Guru Nanak Dev University which will be equivalent to BA, B.Com & B.Sc. The duration of certificate course is 6 months, Diploma for 1 year, Advanced Diploma for 2 years and Degree courses for 3 years. She maintained that the fee is nominal and students can tread the path of self reliance after pursuing these courses. The eligibility is 10+2 pass and age gap year is no bar. She acknowledged the efforts of all the faculty members for running their respective courses so efficiently. Dr Gopi Sharma, Director, Kaushal Kendra attributed the entire success of DDU Kaushal Kendra to Madam Principal and the ceaseless efforts of the Kaushal Kendra staff. Madam Principal also appointed Mrs Vibhuti and Ms. Arti as the Deputy Directors of Kaushal Kendra. The inauguration ceremony culminated with a vote of thanks by Ms Chetna.
