World Architecture Day being celebrated by IIALC at Ludhiana.
Ludhiana, October 6, 2015: Leading architects from Ludhiana under banner of The Indian Institute of Architects Ludhiana Centre (IIALC) celebrated World Architecture day which was attended by nearly 100 professionals.
The theme of the seminar on the world architecture day was “Public spaces for all”. Architect Sanjay Goel, chairman of The Indian Institute of Architects Chandigarh Punjab Chapter (IIACPC) and past chairman of The Indian Institute of Architects Ludhiana Centre (IIALC) in his detailed presentation, touched upon the topic minutely.
He talked in detail about public spaces in Ludhiana like, Rose garden, Rakh Bagh, P.A.U., Leisure valley, Kipps market, Model Town market, Ghumar Mandi and Malls. He explained how Ludhiana is lacking when it comes to public spaces for the masses.
Public spaces are places which are accessible and enjoyable by all without a profit motive and take on various spatial forms, including parks, streets, sidewalks, markets and playgrounds. They make a city livable. Good public spaces enhance community cohesion and promote health, happiness, and well-being for all citizens as well as fostering investment, economic development and environmental sustainability.
Today was also the 128th birth anniversary of late master architect Le Corbusier. Ar. Amrita Taneja paid a tribute to him from all the architects’ side by giving a small presentation on him summing up all his achievements and contributions in the world of Architecture from the very beginning till the end. She also talked about his major contribution to our Nation in the form of City beautiful “Chandigarh “.
A detailed presentation was also given by Rehau Polymers Manufacturers of Joinery & Plumbing Solutions. Ar. Yogesh Singla Chairman of IIALC welcomed all the professionals & Ar. Niranjan Kumar explained the theme.
