AAP does symbolic inauguration of flyover (Ferozepur-Doraha) as protest

Ludhiana, February 25, 2015: Aam Aadmi Party volunteers today held a protest at the flyover leading from Ferozepur road towards Doraha and symbolically dedicated it to the people. 

AAP District convener Ahbaab Singh Grewal said that despite the structure being ready it has not been thrown open to the public as the authorities are waiting for some VIP to come and make a big show off inaugurating the same. Aam Aadmi Party thoroughly opposes such actions and drama such as inaugurating public projects as per the whims of politicians.  Projects related to the public are meant to ease their lives, but our politicians try to show that they are doing the people a favour and that the public should be grateful to them for their benevolence. As it is such projects have to face the usual delays because of red tape and to rub salt into the wounds, people are not allowed to use them even after completion. This project was meant to ease the traffic congestion in the city and some commuters had already started using it but the authorities blocked the road for reasons best known to them. Despite the tall claims of the SAD-BJP Government regarding building of a world class infrastructure in the state, the reality is starkly the opposite and a few of such projects when finally see the light of day, the politicians keep the people waiting even to avail these meager facilities. 

AAP demands an end to this VIP culture and that this facility should be immediately opened for public use, as it is the people who pay for such infrastructure and nobody has the right to deny it to them.
