IG Gautam Cheema declared absent from duty since August 29

Chandigarh, September 24, 2014: Department of Home Affairs and Justice of the Punjab Government today declared Gautam Cheema IPS absent from duty w.e.f August 29, 2014.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the Home Department said that Director General of Police has informed that Inspector General of Police Gautam Cheema (under suspension)is absent from the duty w.e.f August 29 without getting his leave sanctioned from the competent authority. Taking cognizance of the matter the Home Affairs and Justice of the Punjab Government has declared Gautam Cheema absent from duty since August 29.
