Jalandhar: IB PYP students at Cambridge International Foundation School participated in student led conference(s) on 17th October. A student led conference is a tête-à-tête between students and their parents. Each student shares his/her learning with his/her parents through student portfolios.
Student portfolios contain work samples from different disciplines or units of inquiry which the students wish to share with their parents. While sharing work, students also usually reflect as why particular samples were selected by them. Parents also participate equally by asking questions.
All classrooms from Grades Nursery to 5 buzzed with student performance during the SLCs held. Children eloquently communicated how they learn and what they love to learn most. Parents too participated enthusiastically not just as listeners but as inquirers, keen to know about their child’s learning engagements.
Parents also visited the Performing Arts room wherein Dance and Music performances of children were projected. The idea of watching children in motion was liked by all. The Visual Arts room also displayed students’ art work.
All the hard work and effort that children put in paid off with the successful completion of their conferences. The event left the children confident and the parents informed. They absolutely loved interacting with their children in such a setting and getting to know their strong areas. The event got an overwhelming response from all parties.
