Ludhiana, January 19, 2013: Rich tributes were paid to the slain Ludhiana Congress MLA Joginder Pal Pandey on his death anniversary here today.
In this connection, the Ludhiana DCC (Urban) president Pawan Dewan organised “Sadhbavana Diwas” at Congress Bhawan here today, in which the party men remembered the services rendered by the slain Congress MLA.
Joginder Pal Pandey was gunned down by the militants during the black era of militancy in Punjab.
Among others, Joginder Pal Pandey’s son Rakesh Pandey, MLA, and other party leaders including Harmohinder Singh, Malkit Sinh Birmi, Leena Taparia, KK Bawa and Ashok Prashar Pappi were present.
Dewan feared that attempts were on to disturb law and order and peace in Punjab. He administered oath to the party men to remain vigilant and committed for national unity and integrity. He regretted that the ruling alliance had always been doing politics on this sensitive issue.
Dewan and other leaders stressed for further strengthening brotherhood to give a befitting reply to the forces that were trying to create disturbances in Punjab. However, they said they would not allow anyone to disturb peace in the state. They said they were ready to lay sacrifices for the nation.
