Jalandhar, March 24, 2016: The Centre for Gandhian Studies of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organised an extension lecture under the scheme of Epoch Making: Social Thinkers of India. The resource person was Dr.Anil Dutta Mishra, Deputy Director, National Gandhi Museum. He was welcomed by Principal Dr.Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj, Advisory Committee members Mrs.Meenakshi Syal, Dean Academics and Dr.Jasbir Rishi, Dean Holistic Development and Coordinator of Centre for Gandhian Studies Dr.Rajiv Kumar. Resource Person Dr.Anil Dutta Mishra addressed the students and said that we should understand the core of non-violence by Mahatma Gandhi which was the ultimate weapon for India’s freedom. He stressed what Gandhi preached that we should not become one in the crowd rather think differently, practice as we preach, preserve the relevant and destroy the irrelevant. He educated that choice is always ours, we become what we want to, nobody can influence us until we want them to. He expressed that Gandhi became Mahatma from his well power and so can we.
On this occasion, Inter college essay writing and poem writing competitions were also held, in which Amrit Kaur of HMV got first position with cash prize of Rs.2100. Gurjit Kaur of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar got second position with cash prize of Rs.1100 and Devika of Mehar Chand Polytechnic, Jalandhar earned third position with cash prie of Rs.500/- while Pooja Sharma of DAVIET Jalandhar got consolation prize with Rs.250/-. Moreover, Simrat Sandhu, DAVIET Jalandhar, Dhevika Sharma, BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar and Pallavi Sharma, BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar got first, second and third prizes respectively along with cash prizes of Rs. 2100/-, Rs.1100/- and Rs.500/- in order. Other than this, an inter class poetical recitation and declamation contest was also organized, in which Manisha of B.AII, Mansi of B.A.I and Navjot of M.Com.I got first, second and third positions respectively in poem recitation. Then again, Mansi of B.Com. Sem.II, Upasana of B.Com. Prof.III and Harmanjot of B.Com. Prof. VI Sem. earned First, second and third positions in order for declamation contest.
On this occasion, Mrs. Nita Malik, Head Pol.Sc. Deptt., Mrs. Navroop, Mrs. Kranti Wadhwa, Mrs. Alka, Mrs. Sunita Dhawan and others were also present.
