Himachal CM directs to install hand pumps in all Gujjar habitations

Shimla, December 27, 2016: Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh while presiding over the 20th meeting of Gujjar Kalyan Board at Shimla today said the government was making concerted efforts for permanent settlement by identifying suitable land and providing education facilities to the Gujjar Community.
He said that as a major relief to the Gujjar families, who lost their land or houses due to landslides or floods, would be facilitated as per the three biswas and two biswas land as per policy of the state government. In the Budget speech it was announced to provide two biswas of land in urban areas and three biswas of land in rural areas of the state to landless and homeless people, he added.
Besides, he said that every Gujjar child should be given basic education and exhorted the community members to provide better education to their children including vocational education which would open new vistas of employment for them, apart from their traditional occupation. He said that the Government was committed to provide all possible assistance to them.
The Chief Minister also directed the Animal Husbandry department for equipping and training the community with modern techniques for improving the livestock breed thereby resulting in increase in milk production. He also directed to install hand-pumps in all the Gujjar habitations of the State as per the demand, within next two months. He announced up-gradation of Primary School Saaloh in Gram Panchayat Protha of Chamba district, Primary school Malpur, Baddi in Solan and Middle School Anji-Banuna in Nahan in Sirmour to High School. Besides, he directed for construction of science block in Government senior secondary school, Bhedi in Jhanduta, Bilaspur. He also assured that mobile schools would be opened as per need. The Chief Minster also issued directions for providing funds for construction of additional three rooms of primary school in village Dhurghed in GP Daadwin in Chamba district.
The Chief Minster also announced for opening Health Sub Centre in Gujjar Habitation Gujrehda near Palampur in Kangra. Directions were given to issue funds for mettaling of road from Naariwala to Jambukhala in Paonta Sahib, mettaling of Naina Mata temple road in Sakroha in Mandi. He also instructed for construction of toilets near the burial ground in Nainhui and Maswadi villages.
Earlier, Chief Secretary, Shri V.C Pharka welcomed the Chief Minister and detailed him about the various initiatives being taken for welfare of the Gujjar community.
Additional Chief Secretaries, Shri Tarun Shridhar and Shri Narinder Chauhan, Special Secretary, Tribal Development, Shri Rakesh Sharma were also present in the meeting amongst representatives of the Gujjar community from all over the State.
