Amritsar, June 11, 2015: A Hiking & Tracking Camp for girls was organized at the Guru Nanak Dev University Students Holiday Home, Dalhousie. This camp was organized by the Department of Youth Welfare of the University. As many as 107 students and their teachers from 15 affiliated colleges of the University participated.

Prof. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Registrar of the University was the chief guest and Prof. Amarjit Singh Sidhu, Dean Students’ Welfare presided over the valedictory function. Dr. Rupinder Kaur and Mrs. Paramjit Kaur was guests of honour. S. Gurdip Singh, Section Officer, Audit Branch of the University was the special guest on this occasion. Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director Youth Welfare welcomed the chief guest and others.

Prof. Dhillon said that students should participate in various camps, youth festivals and other constructive activities along with their studies. He advised the campers to respect their elders, teachers and parents to achieve success in life. Prof. Sidhu congratulated the students and said that females should excel in this male dominate society by achieving self-dependent status through their studies.

During the camp, PCMSD College Jalandhar was the Best Disciplined Team and Second team was DIPS College, Dhilwan. Similarly, Kajal Mahajan of Pt. Mohan Lal S.D. College for Women, Gurdaspur was adjudged Best Camper and Nischal Kumari of S.S.M. College, Dina Nagar remained Second. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
