PICTURES OF LITTERBUGS WILL BE MADE PUBLIC AND TO FACE PENALTY, DC CHANDER GAIND EMBARKS ON DRIVE TO MAKE CLEAN AND GREEN FEROZEPUR Ferozepur, March 17, 2019: Stepping in for making clean and green Ferozepur, the Deputy Commissioner Chander Gaind on Sunday embarked upon a massive cleanliness drive and took the broom into the hands besides exhorting the people to participate in the drive to restore the pristine legacy of the district. After visiting ten dumping zones in the city, DC Gaind ordered to install hi-tech night vision CCTV cameras in all the zones to keep the tab on the litterbugs. The work of installing the cameras will start on Monday. He said that the pictures of litterbugs will be made public and will also face the penalty. He said that these pictures will also be shown on LED screens in the city and will also be made on social media. Gaind said that MC will also issue a WhatsApp number so that the people can send the pictures of litterbugs on that number following which action will be taken against them. Setting an example, the DC himself took the broom into his hands and cleaned the garbage near Makhu Gate and appealed the people to keep their surroundings clean. He also fixed the responsibilities of people or shopkeepers who live around the dumping zone areas including Amritsari Gate, Makhu Gate, Zira Gate, Dusshera Ground, Dhawan Colony, Harpreet Nagar, Mallanwala Road and others to keep the tab on the litterbugs. Gaind also asked the MC Executive Officer Charanjeet Singh to form Mohalla level committees to review the cleanliness drive. He also asked the MC to start free of cost service for collecting the garbage from the homes in Zira road. The Deputy Commissioner also ordered to issue the notice to a plot owner on whose land the people were throwing the garbage. He clearly ordered the owners of marriage places, hospitals and educational institutions to not to throw the garbage in the open and they will have to manage the waste by setting up compost units for which MC will give training to them. He said that 80 compost pits are being constructed in the vegetable market to make the kitchen waste in the compost which will be used for the plantation. On the occasion, SDM Ferozepur Amit Gupta, Charanjeet Singh, SMO Pradeep Aggarwal , Anirudh Gupta, noted social worker and philanthropist and others were present.
