Heavy rush for GNDU Courses

Amritsar, July 10, 2015: Keeping view the high ranking of the Guru Nanak Dev University among educational institutes in the country, there is heavy rush of admission seekers not only from this region but from the other parts of the country also. State of art infrastructure, quality education, research facilities and excellent placements are the major components that attract students from all quarters, according to a university release issued on Thursday.

Till date the admission process for most of the courses has been completed and admission was done strictly on the basis of merit and a large numbers of students were put in waiting list. The majority of students preferred B.A. (Hons) Social Sciences in arts faculty then B.Sc. (Hons) Economics and Punjabi. There were 600 applicants registered themselves for 210 seats available. In science faculty, there were 2000 applicants against 355 available seats in Bachelor of Physiotherapy, B.Pharmacy, B.Sc. (Hons. School) Chemistry, Human Genetics, Physics.

The University is conducting manual counseling for admission to B.Tech. (Session 2015-16) courses being run at main campus and its various regional campuses from July 20, 2015 to July 25, 2015 [1stCounseling] and from July 28 to 30 [2nd Counseling] at the Guru Nanak Bhawan of the University from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

During the first counseling the admission will be made on the basis of JEE (Main) ranking and in 2ndCounseling the students who have not appeared in JEE will be considered for the vacant seats if any. Detail of schedule will be available on the University website on July 18.

There are total 1560 seats in B.Tech. program in various streams. Online admission process has already commenced from July 7. The candidates can pay their fee in any branch of State Bank of Patiala till July 14 and complete the admission form by July 17, 2015.

Dr. Dalbir Singh Sogi, Coordinator (B.Tech. Admissions – 2015) said that due to the overwhelming response of the students for these courses, the University is all equipped for making all the arrangements for the convenience of the students and their parents during the counseling.
