Madan Mohan Mittal, Health Minister, Punjab inaugurates the new 30 bedded CHC, at a cost of Rs.6 crore, at Makhu in Ferozepur district.

Makhu (Ferozepur), July 9, 2013:  “To provide the better health services to the people, the Punjab Government has recruited 300 doctors apart from spending Rs.350 crore for providing doctors, expansion of basic framework and infrastructure apart from opening of Community Health Centers(CHC) so that people may not have to travel at a distant places for treatment purposes”, said Madan Mohan Mittal, Health Minister, Punjab in a function after inaugurating the new 30 bedded CHC, at a cost of Rs.6 crore, at Makhu in Ferozepur district.

Mittal said, “The Punjab Government has the only target to provide the health services to the people at the shortest distance.  The shortage of staff in the hospitals in the border towns will be given priority”.

He further said, “For the better treatment of Cancer patients, the Punjab Government is paying Rs.1.50 lakh to each patient”.

Madan Mohan Mittal, Health Minister also informed that to uplift the medial education and research work, the Punjab Government has spent Rs.197 crore on Govt. Medical College, Amritsar, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BGUHS), Faridkot apart from Rs.100 crore on Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Rs.122 crore on Rajindra Medical College Patiala and Hospital.  In addition to this, Rs.67 crores have also been spent on BFHUS, Faridkot on the construction academic block and building of medical college and to deal with the chronic disease like Cancer, the Cancer Diagnostic and Treatment Centers have been established at Amritsar and Patiala duly equipped with modern infrastructure.  In addition to this, the centers at BFHUS Faridkot and Bathinda, for the treatment of cancer at a cost of Rs.22.83 crore and Rs.60 crore, respectively are being established.  The five de-addiction centers and 31 de-addiction units, out of which ten are already working, are also being opened at Patiala, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Bathinda and Faridkot.

The Health Minister said, there will no shortage of any kind in the government hospitals and the hospitals will be equipped with modern equipments on the pattern of private hospitals.

Mittal said, Virasat-e-Khalsa known as Khalsa Heritage Memorial Complex at Anandpur Sahib is a wonder that gives an insight to the world, for the events of sacrifices of Punjabis that took place in Punjab five hundred years ago.

On this occasion, Varinder Pal Singh SSP, Ferozpeur, Lakhbir Singh, SP(H), Dr. Ashok Nayyar, Director Health Department, Punjab, Avtar Singh Zira, Chairman Cooperative Bank, Punjab, Mukand Singh Sandhy, SDM, Zira, Jagraj Singh Katora, District President BJP, Manjit Singh Rai, Member, National Councilor BJP. Dr. Y. K. Gupta Civil Surgeon, Dr. Davinder Bhullar, Assistant Civil Surgeon, Dr. Renu Garg, Inderjit Singh Kalra, President Municipal Council, Makhu and Dr. Ajmer Singh Kalra besides in good number of SAD and BJP workers were present.
