Hyderabad, October 22, 2016: Institute of Indian Interior Designers Hyderabad Regional Chapter (IIID HRC) organised a Hafele Design Awards, the awards for excellence in interior designing in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states here in city at hotel trident on Friday night.

The eleventh Hafele Design awards presentation which is an annual affair was graced by V. Nagi Reddy, State Election Commissioner—Telangana. He gave away Lifetime Achievement awards to two architects—B. Ramgopal and Udaya Shankar Doni. They were selected for their outstanding designs. The design awards are given to recognise the creative talent of interior designers from the two Telugu speaking states.

The awards function continued late into the night on Friday.

Addressing the gathering, V. Nagi Reddy said it is a myth that only rich use interior designing. In-fact everyone expects good environment, which is offered good designing. It is true that poor cannot afford good designing. But if it is commoditised, they may go for it. I don’t know if you were ever involved in designing the Two Bed Room scheme offered by the government of Telangana, he said. If a design element is integrated into such projects, it would it would improve utility value, he opined.

Good interior designing is eternal. It will last long. See for instance designs of The Taj Mahal is an ivory-white marble mausoleum on the south bank of the Yamuna river in Agra and many Indian Temples. Even after hundreds of existence, their architecture is impeccable, said Nagi Reddy. Let creativity spread and multiply he said.

Responding to the award presentation, B.Ramgopal told young architects and interior designers not just to design but get involved in execution. Then you will become a very good professional.

The awards were categorised into many categorie--Commercial, Public Spaces-A, Public Spaces-B, Residential Spaces, Residential Spaces-2, Hospitality, Young Designers and Jury special award and presented the same to the winners.

Ms. Sona Chatwani, Chairperson ; Mr.Nanda Kumar, Hon. Secretary IID HRC; Mr.Ravi Anchuri, Convener were also present.

Prior to the presentation of the awards a Standup Comedy show by Alick Bailey was held. He enthralled audience with many witty remarks. One such remark was: the only difference between Bangalore and Hyderabad is they have roads and here they are coming. Obviously he made a very sarcastic remark on the bad road condition of the city.

Another remark he made was that we are living a life of “motor homes”. We have been spending more time in cars, motors than in homes. Obviously he was pointing at the pathetic traffic problem in urban cities like Hyderabad.

About 400 interior design professionals in the conference thoroughly enjoyed with his funny observations and witty comments.

IIID HRC is the local chapter of the IIID. IIID is a non-profit, professional body comprises of over 5500 members spread across the country, and has 21 Chapters / Centers. IIID HRC is the regional chapter. It is one of the most vibrant chapters in India informed Sona Chatwani, Chairperson of the IIID HRC. These awards are the rewards for the excellence shown by interior designers. These awards motivate our members to carry on with their excellence, she said.

The members include Interior Designers, Architects, Consultants, Engineers, Project Management Consultants (PMC), Design Students, System Integrators, Artists, Painters, Facility Managers, Industry Members, Manufacturers, Suppliers, Vendors, Contractors, Turnkey Solution Providers and so on.
