Guru Kashi University Holds 1st Convocation

Talwandi Sabo, March 27, 2015: Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo held its 1st Convocation on Friday. As many as 500 passout students of the University, from different streams participated in the convocation and received their degrees & medals as per their overall performance.

The convocation programme was presided over by Dr J.S. Dhaliwal, Chancellor, Guru Kashi University  whereas Dr. Gurbachan Singh, Chairman, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board, New Delhi (ASRB) graced the occasion as chief guest. 

The Programme was initiated in the Auditorium with the Shabad of Tenth Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh “Deh Shiva Bar Mohe Ehai”. After this holy recite Dr. N.S. Malhi, Vice Chancellor, Guru Kashi University presented the University report covering Infrastructure, Faculty, Academic, Sports & Cultural activities. He said this University is catering to the needs of students from rural to urban, coming from 17 states of the Nation. He also said that University is leading to create world class infrastructure & research facilities to meet the expectations of the student and to fulfill the needs of corporate sector and global market. He further added that Guru Kashi University keeps keen desire to add moral values and religious studies in the curriculum which will definitely give good direction to the students to serve the society. 

Dr. J.S. Dhaliwal, Chancellor Guru Kashi University while presiding over the convocation stated that establishing of this university is accomplishing of the objective set up & motivated by great Divine Power Tenth Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh. He said that very soon this University will be a world class center of learning for education, moral values and for training the youth as per global requirement not only for the Indian students but also for the students from the other countries.

Chief Guest, Dr. Gurbachan Singh, Chairman (ASRB) appreciated this university situated at the holy place Sri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo), which is blessed by Tenth Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh as ‘Guru Ki Kashi’. Dr. Singh advised the students to excel in the education and for the proper utilisation of same for self improvement and uplifting of the society. He congratulated all the participants, their teachers and parents for imparting quality education skills and values. He also emphasized upon the strong need to develop online teaching facilities where faculty from the developed world can teach through e- learning.

Dean Academics Col. Dr. B.S. Dhaliwal organised & conducted the degree distribution ceremony meticulously along with the deans of constituent colleges- i.e. Engineering, Commerce & Management, Humanities, Computer Applications, Physical Education, Dean Research and Controller of Examinations. Five Gold Medal were awarded to Amandeep Kaur (B.tech ECE-2011), Kamaljeet Kaur (M.Tech IT-2011), Sarbjot Kaur (MCA-2011), Jaspal Kaur (BPE-2012) and Kanchan Rani (MBA-2012) for their excellent overall performance during their study.

During the convocation, universities authorities i.e. Registrar, Dean, Directors, Estate Officer, ERP Manager and PRO alongwith staff and students were also present.

Pass out Students discipline & conduct during the ceremony was exemplary. At the end convocation was declared closed and was followed by National Anthem. The function was a memorable event and will be cherished in the days to come.
