PAU To Hold Brain Storming Session And Annual Meet On Pulses

Ludhiana, August 28, 2015: A brain storming session on “Promotion of Pulses in Indo-Gangetic Plains of India” will be organised at Punjab Agricultural University on August 31. Dr B.S.Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU will be chief guest of the occasion. Dr J.S.Sandhu, Deputy Director General (Crop Sciences), Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, will be the Chairman of the inaugural session while Dr B.B. Singh, Assistant Director General (Oilseeds and Pulses), ICAR will be the Co-Chairman. Dr N.P. Singh, Director, Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur will highlight the research and development activities on pulses in India. Dr Sanjeev Gupta, project Coordinator (MULLaRP) and Dr G.P. Dixit, Project Coordinator (Chickpea) will present the Project Coordinator’s Report.

The session will see deliberations on crop diversification and genetics enhancement, resource conservation, mechanization and developmental issues.

Meanwhile, an Annual Group Meet on“Rabi Pulses (Chickpea and MULLaRP) 2015 will be organized from September 1-3. Dr J.S. Sandhu and Dr B.B. Singh will be the Chairmen of Chickpea and MULLaRP, respectively. Dr N.P. Singh, Director, IIPR, Kanpur and Dr K.S. Thind, Head, Plant Breeding and Genetics, will be the Co-Chairmen. During the meet, experts will review the crop year and hold discussions on crop improvement, crop protection and production, germplasm and breeder seed production, and inter-project linkages.
