Guru Kashi University celebrates NSS Day

Talwandi Sabo, September 24, 2014: To mark the NSS Day, Guru Kashi University conducts various activities to motivate the students about this National Service Scheme.
In the First phase of this celebration a Yoga Camp was organised in the Campus. In the morning about 100 volunteers participated in this Yoga Camp. Being a yoga expert Prof. Satpal Singh of Physical Education College, GKU was the coordinator of yoga camp.
The whole programme was inaugurated by authorities of the University by lamp lighting. Registrar Satish Goswami who was the chief guest, stated that National Service Scheme is an idea contempted by leading educationist Dr. S. Radha Krishnan and C.D. Deshmukh and strongly endorsed by Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru & several other significances. NSS is a key to achieve National integration. He impressed upon the students to take a lead from the lives of great leaders and contribute towards this patriotic mission. The Choreography against the drugs ‘The Race of the life’ was presented by students of University College of Commerce & Management.  
Dean Students Welfare Dr. D.R. Godara explained all the important points related to NSS to the volunteers and other students through easily understood able slides. Famous Punjabi folk dance Malwai Giddha was performed by the students.
Six volunteers named Satveer Kaur, Lovepreet Kaur, Nirmal Singh, Manjeetpal Kaur, Jagvinder Singh, Dikshit and 2 programme officers Lect. Arun Kumar and Lect. Kanwaljeet Singh were also honored for the praise worthy work to NSS in the last year.
Director Sports Dr. Tarlok Singh Sandhu delivered vote & thanks. The refreshment was also arranged for the volunteers.
Apart from others Dean Academics Dr. B.S. Dhaliwal, Prof. Barjinder Singh Mann Controller Examinations, Dr. Amit Tuteja, Dr. Amandeep Singh Dean UCCM, Dr. A.K. Kansal Dean UCBS&H, Prof. Sukhdevinder Singh Kaurra and Dr. Ravinder Sumal HoD Physical Education were also present.
