Chandigarh, October 21, 2014: Students of Blind Institute. Sector 26, Chandigarh today presented designer candles to Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh Shivraj V Patil, at Punjab Raj Bhavan, and wished Happy Diwali. Interacting with children of Blind Institute Patil emphasised the need for empowering the blind students by imparting them education and vocational training to enable them to live a life with pride and dignity.

Discussing various issues with, Major General Rajinder Nath (Retd.) Senior Vice President of the Society for the Care of the Blind, Patil stressed upon giving homely up bring, proper guidance to these children to transform them into self reliant and useful citizens of the society.

Wishing Happy Diwali to blind children, Patil assured the management of Blind Institute that the Chandigarh Administration was committed to provide all possible help to meet their genuine demands.

Appreciating the role of staff and management of the Institute for the Blind, Patil said that the wheel of society is running on good deeds, positive thinking, determination and commitment. All these aspects are found in the management of this Blind Institute, because of which it is functioning smoothly and fulfilling all basic needs of the students.

Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included M.P. Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor, Brig. (Retd.) K.I. Kumar, Vice President and Prem Girdhar, Honorary Secretary of Blind Institute, Chandigarh.
