Chandigarh, December 12, 2015: Speaking in a Conference organized by Indian Medical Association, here today, the Governor of Punjab, Haryana and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki announced to give funds to install lift in IMA Auditorium which was inaugurated by him today to enable aged Doctors to participate in Conferences going to be held in this Auditorium in future and give their valuable suggestions and share their rich experiences.
Lauding the role of IMA, Prof. Solanki said that the profession of Doctors is very noble and therefore they should work selflessly, dedicatedly and devotedly as per the expectations of the patients.
Describing Doctors next to the God, Prof. Solanki said that since the dawn of civilization, the biggest challenge has been to find ways of dealing with the various and varied diseases that afflict human beings. He said Medical science has seen many path-breaking discoveries. He said that IMA is very old organization which has special place and importance in the country. He said that God has given us beautiful body with different body parts and organs, which medical sciences was not able to produce but they can play a significant role in treating them with the help of medical sciences. He said that he was happy to know that the Indian Medical Association has constructed this auditorium without any help from outsiders, but they have raised required funds from their own pockets.
The Governor also gave awards to prominent Doctors who excelled in their respective fields and also honoured all those who contributed in the construction of the Auditorium.
Prominent amongst others who spoke on the occasion included Prof. A. Marthanda Pillai, National President, IMA, New Delhi, Dr. Sandeep Dhavan, President IMA Chandigarh, Dr. Raman Abrol, Honorary State Secretary, IMA, Chandigarh, Dr. Atul Sachdeva, Director Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh and Dr. V.K. Gagneja, Director Health Services, UT.
