Garrison engineer and junior engineer of MES arrested in a bribery case

New Delhi, July 8, 2014: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Garrison Engineer (Major rank officer) and Junior Engineer (QS&C), both of MES, Danapur Cantt, Patna (Bihar) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.1,42,000 from the Complainant.
A case was registered against Garrison Engineer and Junior Engineer (QS&C), MES, Danapur Cantt, Patna under section 120B IPC r/w Sec. 7 of PC Act on complaint received from Contractor (Registered with MES) alleging demand of bribe of Rs. 1.42 Lakhs i.e. 10% of tender amount of Rs.14.2 Lakhs for accepting tender related to Kendriya Vidyalay, Danapur Cantt..
Searches were carried out at the office & residential premises of the accused officials. Several incriminating documents indicating large scale manipulation of contracts have been recovered.  Apart from these Rs.1.21 Lakhs was also recovered from the bag of Garrison Engineer and another Rs.90,000 from his residence.
The arrested accused were produced before the Designated Court, Patna and were remanded to judicial custody.
