Foundation stone of CUHP soon: Kishan Kapoor
Dharamshala, September 11, 2018: “The Himachal government has finalised 8000 kanal land in Jadrangal in the outskirts of Dharamshala City for campus of Central university CUHP, and the foundation stone for the same shall be laid soon”, said Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Kishan Kapoor at Dharamshala on Tuesday. The campus location has been the center of controversy for the last seven years. A section of BJP leaders wanted most area of the campus in Dehra about 60 kms from here, which is a part of the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency. The previous Congress governments wanted to bring campus in Dharamshala. Seven years have passed and still the foundation stone of the CUHP has not been laid. Central University Himachal Pradesh (CUHP), which is embroiled in controversy and has been without a permanent campus since its establishment in Kangra district, is being forced to work in other department buildings in and around Dharamshala. Kishan Kapoor added that the present government is committed for all round development of education in the state and Rs.7044 crore are earmarked for it in the budget. Kapoor who is also the MLA of Dharamshala constituency was speaking on the inauguration of post graduate classes of Geography, Chemistry and Commerce in Government College Dharamshala. He said, “Three more PG courses will be started in this college from next year.”
