Food Fest and Cookery Competition organised at Science City     

Kapurthala, December 6, 2015: Food, Health and Nutrition are an indispensable part of life. Making healthy food choices, eating nutritional food and savoring the diversity of food  which our country has to offer, needs to be inculcated in the society. The science behind healthy food habits also needs to be effectively communicated besides informing the public about the benefits of traditional grains and crops, the release of aromatic compounds while cooking and the retention of vitamins and minerals in raw and cooked food. These were the views expressed by Dr. Rajesh Gorver, Director Science City  on the occasion of Food festival cum Cookery Competition Jointly organized by  Pushpa Gujral Science City and Nation Finishing & Cookery Institute Jalandhar at Science City, Kapurthala. 
 Further he said that we need to inculcate scientific temper  on healthy food in the society. This competition  aims to promote the generation of new ideas in healthy eating, adopting an integrative nutritional approach and instilling good food habits. Also, the festival has provided a platform for all inspiring chefs who want to carve a niche for themselves in becoming a food expert even without obtaining any formal training. 
The food festival will help in discovering interesting facts about the food you enjoy and at the same time give all the food lovers a chance to savor the taste of various dishes, delicacies & desserts. He added 
Celebrity Chefs  Mr. Rakesh Sethi, Mr. Sanjeev Verma, Mr. Navdeep Sharma and Ms NeeluKaura were the jury members during the competition. 25 stalls of different variety of foods were set up on this occasion to celebrate the food diversity of India. More than 250 kids, students, housewives & professional chefs participated in the & Cookery competition.
Result of the competition:  Culinary: Mr.Bilal,Mr. Jogindera and Mr.Patil Sunil from NFCI Jalandhat got first, second and third prize.
Chef of the year: Mrs.Guntas (GNA Phogwara)Mrs.Probjot (NFCI Jalandhar) and Mrs.Muskan (NFCI Ludhana), Mrs. Neetu(NFCI Jalandhar) clinched the first, second and third prize.
Junior Chef :  Mr.Peet soi from MGN Jalandhar  and Mr.Keshuv Lojgh stood first and second prize.
Kichan King/Queen :  First, second and third prize went to Mrs.Pooja, Meenakshi Goiel and Seema from Jalandhar.
