Ludhiana: Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mr.Mohinderpal Gupta on Thursday stated that the district administration is all geared up to check the spread of vector borne and water borne diseases in the district. He said that to make sure these diseases are checked well in advance, the Health Department as well as the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation have started fogging in city. Mr. Gupta was chairing Vector Borne Disease & Water Borne Monitoring Committee Meeting held at Bachat Bhawan, here today.
He said that joint teams of Health Department would take out special drives in the high risk areas and immediate action would be taken from where the dengue cases were reported last year. He said that a request regarding this has already been sent to Commissioner of Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana.
During the meeting, the ADC (G) issued strict instructions to Ludhiana MC staff that they should carry surveys in high risk areas and make sure the mosquito larvae is eradicated. MC officials informed that they have already started the drive in city. Under this drive all 14 big machines are working on daily basis. Some shopkeepers are habitual offenders and dengue larvae are found from their premises almost every year despite the fact that they are challaned. Mr. Gupta said that if some habitual offenders are also found, then instead of a challan, an FIR under section 133 of CrPC should be registered against them.
Today’s meeting was held to discuss future plan of action to check the spread of vector borne and water borne diseases in the district.
ADC said that people should also assist the district administration in keeping their surroundings clean. She also urged officers from all government departments to perform their duties with utmost devotion and honestly so that precious lives can be saved.
