Khanna, November 6, 2017: Three persons died while dozens injured in road accidents near Khanna today. The accidents in which one dozen vehicles collided happened due to fog. The dense of fog was so thick that there was zero visibility and the vehicles on national highway rammed into each other as the drivers of the vehicles failed to assess the actual positions of the vehicles.The accidents were happened on three kilometer road stretch at khanna. The deceased has been identified as Kedar and Gurdeep while the identification of the third deceased is yet to be known.
As per the information available from Balbir Singh, Chowki Incharge, Kotan that the vehicles were moving on national highway but their speed were slow in the comparison of other days. He said that near about one dozen vehicles collided with each other when the drivers of the erring vehicles were failed to assess the actual positions of the vehicles moving in from of them and resulted they collided with each other.

The Chowki Incharge (police post)added that one Kedar who was in jeep and sitting on the seat near driver fell down out from the jeep when his vehicle collided with other vehicle who was moving in front of them and the vehicle coming behind them crushed him. He further added that the other deceased who was died near Bija when his vehicle also hit by other vehicle coming behind them. The third deceased whose identification not clear till filling the report also died in the accident.
A car driver who also become injured in the accident revealed that he was moving in his car on zero speed while the other car driver who was in hurry moving on high speed and hit his car due to dense fog and the vehicles moving in front and behind of them collided with each other due to dense fog.
The witness who came out from the surrounding villages after heard a loud noise said that it was near 7 AM when they heard the loud noise and witnessed a long queue of the vehicles collided with each other and they come out with help8ing hands and carried the injured to the nearby hospitals and nursing homes. They claimed that the number of injured goes up in dozens.
It is pertinent to mention that in previous years some major road accidents happened due to fog on this stretch but the administration failed to install any signal or fog lights on the sites.
