First Model School of Haryana inaugurated in Hayatpur

Gurgaon, November 1, 2015: The 49th Haryana day was marked with widespread celebrations across the state. This occasion became all the more special for the people of Hayatpur Village, Gurgaon. DLF Foundation inaugurated the first model senior secondary school of Haryana in Hayatpur Village, Gurgaon under its Integrated School Development Project.

DLF Foundation has started its “Integrated School Development Program” under its Cluster Development Initiative in the year 2014. The focus of the project is to access the gaps in the education system and bridging these gaps through a multi level integrated school-level development. DLF Foundation officially inaugurated its model school programme in Hayatpur village; Gurgaon to mark the successful completion of first stage intervention in the government senior secondary school in Hayatpur.DLF Foundation adopted the Government senior secondary school of Hayatpur and transformed it into a model school. Eminent members of the local and school administration, panchayat, representatives of DLF Foundation and children from different government schools of Nawada Fatehpur and Kankrola Village were present at the occasion. Students also commemorated Haryana Day and performed Folk dance of Haryana.

The following interventions have been implemented in the Hayatpur senior secondary School:

•         Introduction of Technology aided learning.

•         Library has been created for the children.

•         Teachers’ skills development training for the teachers of the school.

•         Upgrading of the existing infrastructure of the entire school.

•         Laboratory equipments and infrastructure enhanced with modern day facililities.

•         Wall arts have been done in the entire school making a very conducive environment for children to study.

•         Toilets and drinking water taps have been redone.

•         A School Management Committee (SMC) comprising of parents and teachers has been formulated to address the grievances related to students and school.

Presently there are 300 students studying in this government school who will be benefitted by this school development program. DLF Foundation along with the school administration will also be organising awareness program in Hayatpur village to motivate the families to send their children to school to ensure that each and every child of the village has access to quality education.

An elated Mr. Shiv Narayan, Sarpach, Hayatpur Village said’ “DLF Foundation has always been a helping hand in the development of this village. This model school is a gift us on the occasion of Haryana Day.  This initiative will definitely help us to fill the gaps in our education system and expose our children to advanced technologies and fun based learning system.”

DLF Foundation entails holistic development of govt. high schools in the cluster of villages in Delhi NCR. This includes introduction of fear-free learning environment, fun based learning systems, use of advanced technology to introduce fun based learning, infrastructural improvement, environment protection, training of teachers to bring up their skills for improved classroom teaching etc. Separate school development plans have been created for all schools under the project and implementation is going on.  A model School in Karampura in Delhi was inaugurated last year and they have planned develop six government schools into model schools within the next five years. DLF Foundation has planned to develop these schools taking into consideration the fact that education is one of the most important areas which requires attention after the basic need of food, shelter and clothing is fulfilled.

Ritesh Sinha, Director, Program, Village Cluster Development said, “We are foreseeing a tremendous change in the personality of the children from our model Govt School after completion of our intervention tenure. We are sure that the children of Hayatpur School also would come out to be very competitive and result oriented in their approach post our intervention. Our vision is to see these children at par with their peer studying in private schools.”

Ms Sukhvinder Kaur, Principal, Hayatpur Senior Secondary School expressed her delight in the following words, “DLF Foundation has introduced new and innovative teaching methods and materials in our schools, which will help not only the students but the teachers as well to clear the basic concepts.”

Santosh Kumari a student of the Hayatpur School said, “We are happy with the facilities that have been established after the school was adopted. With the new equipment in the lab practical classes would be fun. I am thankful to DLF Foundation and our School authorities that they have given us all the facilities and environment that a private school has.”
