Zee TV’s weekend show ‘Ek Maa Jo Laakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma’ that chronicles the journey of an ordinary mother to emerging as a formidable messiah for the masses, has kept viewers hooked with its gripping narrative and impressive ensemble star cast. The show is now slated for a 15-year leap. Supermodel-turned-actor Urwashi Sharma, who made her fiction debut with the show, playing the unconventional title role of ‘Amma’, bids ardent viewers of the show goodbye at this juncture. Urwashi, who won a million hearts with her effortless portrayal of Zeenat, would like to thank her fans for their consistent love and support all through her stint on the show.

The stunning actor, otherwise known for her glamorous persona and panache, had gone de-glam and creatively contributed towards the minutest details to enact the role of Zeenat Shaikh with a sense of authenticity and realism. Urvashi shares, “I’m privileged to have worked in a show like Amma. It was a concept that hadn’t been explored on Indian television. Special thanks to the producers and Zee TV for having offered audiences something unique. Playing Zeenat was certainly challenging for me, I had to work on my accent and dialogues as Zeenat is a Muslim woman. I spoke to a few Muslim women, observed their body language, the way they dress and talk. The creative team and I did a lot of research to make every scene look natural. Needless to say, it has been a great learning experience. I’m extremely thankful to the entire cast and crew of Amma for making me feel at home for the past few months. In no time, I felt so deeply connected with everyone, I’ll miss them for sure. The only reason I’m leaving the show, is the usage of Prosthetics makeup, to make me look aged. One session of prosthetic makeup takes at least two hours. And since we shoot at real locations mostly, it wouldn’t have been possible to manage the make-up due to the heat and complete the shoot within the required deadlines. Hence I decided to make a move. I enjoyed every bit of my journey and want to thank all my fans for their love and blessings. I also want to give my best wishes to the actor who will be playing the character of Zeenat after me. I’m certain that her entry will take Amma to new heights. May the show continue winning audiences over!”

While, Urwashi’s beautiful journey in the show has ended, she will certainly be remembered for her graceful portrayal of Amma. The show post leap will see Amma as a leader of the masses. She is running a parallel government of her own in the city, solving people’s problems, addressing their grievances, meting out justice in her own unique way. Before approaching the Police or law, people preferred getting their problems sorted in amma's court. On the other hand, all the kids - Rehana (Zeenat’s daughter), Saraswati (Anna’s daughter) and Faisal (adopted son of Amma) are now grown-ups. The city of Mumbai, at this point, is known as the land of opportunity and everyone wants to be the king of the throne and Amma’s battle isn’t just with the external rivals but people whom she’s herself raised with trust and love. Her own Faisal aims to rule the entire underworld and he wants it to function as an integrated business and not how it has been managed until now. Is Amma’s supremacy about to get challenged?

The casting for the role of Amma is in process … let’s see who steps into Urwashi’s shoes, bagging the coveted author-backed role!
