FIEO organised Session on IGST Filing & Refund Procedures and AEO Program with Senior Customs Officials at Ludhiana

Ludhiana, August 8, 2018: FIEO Ludhiana Chapter with the support of Customs Commisisonerate Ludhiana organized an “Interactive Session on IGST Filing & Refund Procedures and Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Program benefits for the Exporters” at Ludhiana. The session was conducted by Shri. Gurmail Singh, Assistant Commissioner & Shri. Parampreet Rai, Assistant Commissioner along with other important officials from Customs Commissionerate, Ludhiana.

While addressing the participants during the session Mr Parampreet Rai said that, “ In the recently concluded IGST Fortnight Refund Camp, it was observed that majority of refunds were stuck up due to some errors occurring while filing refund claims or data transfers by the applicants. The objective of this interaction was to address various issues faced by exporters related to IGST filling & refunds procedures, as understanding of correct procedure will minimize undue delay in refund claims”.

Mr Gurmail Singh also added during his presentation that, “By minimizing errors while uploading data / information in the systems, delay in claiming refunds can be avoided o a larger extent. Also it is very important to understand the correct refund filing procedure, for this the exporters need to be very careful while doing feeding information in systems”.

A presentation based interaction was also conducted by Customs Officials on the benefits offered by Authorized Economic Operator Program(AEOP). The AEO programme is designed to secure supply chain security in trading across borders; the Indian AEO programme provides enhanced facilitation in clearance of cargo leading to reduction in dwell time, besides a plethora of other benefits extended to the exporters, opting to become signatory of this program. Also the Customs Department Ludhiana is extending its full support to exporters to meet all the necessary requisites or compliance to become the authorized under the AEO Program, which will further enhance their exports.

Mr S C Ralhan, Immediate Past President, FIEO (National) said that, “The Customs Department Ludhiana is doing a wonderful job by extending their full supporting to the regions exporters in all possible ways. The Customs departments have already organized 3 Refund Clearance Camps, all across the country. It is very pleasing to share that all the camps have received positive responses. During the recently conducted 3rd IGST Refund Clearance Drive/ Camp, a IGST Refund “HELP DESK” was also set up at FIEO Ludhiana office, in which all the important exporters queries were addressed. We expect the Ludhiana Customs to keep extending their support to exporters in the times to come”.

The session was sell attended by more than 60 delegates from prominent business houses across the region.
