Chandigarh, October 14, 2014: Maintaining its lead for the second day today Ferozepur procured 1, 83,404 tonnes of paddy till date during the ongoing paddy procurement operations in the state while Kapurthala and Faridkot remained on second and third positions with the total procurement of 1,46,433 tonnes and 1,37,490 tonnes of paddy respectively.
Stating this here today a spokesman of the government said that 13, 66,338 tonnes of paddy has been procured in all the 1806 purchase centres set up by the state government till last evening. The government agencies procured 12, 67,617 tonnes i.e 92.8% and the private agencies procured 98,721 tonnes i.e7.2% so far.
He further said that PUNGRAIN also maintained its lead amongst the government agencies and had procured the maximum 3,49,527(27.6%) tonne paddy in the mandis of state whereas MARKFED procured 3,09,495 (24.4%) , PUNSUP 2,81,453 (22.2%), PSWC 1,26,524 (10.0%) PAFC procured 1, 32,166 (10.4%). Central government agency FCI has yet to speed up as it could procure merely 68,452 tonnes of paddy (5.4%), he added.
