FARMERS AND FARM WOMEN GET TRAINING AT PAU KISAN CLUB MEET

Ludhiana, December 2, 2016: The monthly training camp of PAU Kisan Club was held at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today in which a total of 460 farmers from different parts of the state participated. In addition, a monthly training camp of women’s wing of the club was also held today in which 55 farm women participated.

The Coordinator of the club, Dr T.S. Riar stressed on fortifying research –extension-farmer-marketing linkages. He said the University experts dwelt on weed control in rabi crops, micronutrients in wheat crop, agricultural marketing and caring of animals during winters. Besides, farmers were informed about emerging social problems and solutions, he added.

Dr Rupinder Kaur, Coordinator of women’s wing of the club, said the food and nutrition experts of PAU gave demonstrations on the preparation of value added food products using herbs.

The resource persons included soil science expert, Dr J.S. Manchanda; agronomy expert, Dr M.S.Bhullar; and animal science expert, Dr Ranjit Singh. Besides, Dr Amrik Singh, Block Agriculture Officer, Pathankot and Dr Rajinder Singh, former Principal, also delivered lectures.

Earlier, Sh A.S. Bhullar, Member of the club, welcomed the farmers and the experts. Later, S. Manpreet Singh Grewal, President of the club, proposed the vote of thanks.
