Chandigarh, October 10, 2018: Faculty members from Panjab University doing cancer related research had an interaction with a delegation headed by Dr.Claude Dupont from the Inclusive Business Accelerator (IBA), Belgium. Dr.Dupont apprised about the cancer treatment though proton therapy and research going on across the continents. It is a very precisely targeted technique for the cancer treatment.
In India, two state-of-art proton therapy facilities are coming up at Apollo hospital, Chennai, and ARCTEC, Navi Mumbai.
The PU Vice-chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar had discussions regarding such a project with the delegates and stressed on focused basic research in cancer disease by PU faculty and CRIKC institutes. He also pointed on importance of early detection and prevention of cancer. The faculty from social sciences can play a pivotal role in relevant mass awareness programmes.
