ESIC to start Modified Insurance Medical Practitioner (mIMP Scheme) at Doraha, Ludhiana through Mobile App
Ludhiana, March 8, 2019: ESI Corporation has started an alternative system for its Insured Persons working in the areas where ESIC does not have its medical arrangements or in newly implemented area a Modified Insurance Medical Practitioner (mIMP) Scheme on pilot basis. The scheme was launched on 07/03/2019 at Doraha (Ludhiana) where an agreement has been signed with Dr. Jaskirat Singh, MD, Rajwant Diagnostic Centre and Kaplish Drug Store at Doraha. The Medical care to Insured Persons attached with this scheme will be provided on cashless basis. A function was held at M/s Mitter Fastners, G.T.Road Doraha today where Sh. Dinesh Lakra, Chairman Laghu Udyog Bharti (Hosiery and Textile) and Sh. P.K. Narula, Director ESIC Ludhiana distributed the Health Passbook to the beneficiaries. The health passbook will have QR code and details on its cover page. On this occasion while briefing the details of the scheme, Sh. P.K. Narula said, The Scheme may further be expanded in the new areas as well as existing areas as per need. In area, where ESI does not have its medical establishment, or in newly implemented area, Primary Medical Care is provided cash less through tie up arrangement, with Insurance Medical Practitioner (IMP).Earlier IMPs used to be normally appointed by the Director Insurance Medical Scheme (DIMS), ESI Scheme and were paid per Insured Person per year which included consultation, basic lab investigation and cost of medicines. Sh. Satyawan Singh, Assistant Director, Sh. Sandeep Saluja, SSO and Smt. Ranjana Goswami, SSO ESIC and other dignitries of Laghu Udyog Bharti were also present on the occasion. The salient features of the scheme are as under: a. Under Modified Scheme, IMP will prescribe medicines as per available medicine list (drawn from national essential list of medicine and basic investigations) in the health passbook with signature and upload image of prescription in the mobile app, which will be accessed by empanelled chemist and Diagnostic centre b. In addition through Mobile App, the IMP may recommend sickness benefit of 7 days in a spell up to maximum period of 30 days in a year, subject to remote verification of such recommendation by medical referee, the benefit would be remitted in the bank account of IP. ESIC is a pioneer Social Security Organization under Ministry of Labour and Employment, Govt. of India providing social security’s benefits under ESI Act 1948 to its beneficiaries who are registered through their employers. ESIC now has a pan India presence delivering benefits to our 3.43 crore family unit worker, 13.32 crore beneficiaries population and are 10.33 lac factories and establishment. Out of different benefits being provided, Medical Benefits are delivered through a chain of ESIC/ ESI Scheme run by 155 hospitals 1300 dispensaries and 950 empanelled insurance medical practitioners (IMP). Secondary/Tertiary medical services which are not available in ESIC/ESIS institutions are provided cashless through tie up arrangement with more than 1000 public/private hospitals throughout the country.
