ELCINA hails Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘New India’ by 2025
New Delhi, September 25, 2019: ELCINA Annual Awards is organised in association with Messe Muenchen India on Wednesday at India Expo centre, Greater Noida. The objective of organising these awards is to identify the star performers in electronics industry in India. ELCINA has been awarding excellence in Research & Development, Exports, Quality, Business Excellence, Environment Management and Entrepreneurial Excellence. ELCINA awards instituted in 1974 have the distinction of being among the most respected and coveted recognitions of the India Electronics industry. ELCINA President, Amrit Manwani welcomed and congratulated the winners in various categories. During the event, Manwani appreciated the contributions of award winners and also mentioned about various policy announcements made by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman regarding deep reduction in corporate tax for existing and prospective manufacturers. Manwani along with ELCINA EC members mentioned that government is all set to support electronics manufacturing in the country. Pankaj Gulati, Past President- ELCINA dwelt on ELCINA’s strong commitment to creating an environment that will act as a catalyst to accelerate all-round growth of high value-added manufacturing in the country. “Our aim is to work closely with all stakeholders to enable local value addition, support acquisition of technology and facilitate joint ventures between Indian and global players. There is a strong need and a great opportunity to speed up the growth of electronics manufacturing in the country. This would benefit not only India, but also the regional and global electronics community by creating access to expanding global markets”, Gulati said. The 44th ELCINA Awards were presented by the Chief Guest Shri Ajay Prakash Sawhney, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Govt. of India. Sawhney particularly stated, “We recognise the Electronics sector operates in a fast-changing environment, which brings its own unique set of challenges for the industry. He also stated his ministry’s focus in encouraging Component manufacturing in the country. We understand there is tremendous scope for Electronics to grow in many new areas with the advent of IoT and the billions of sensors expected to be deployed in Communications, Energy, Transportation and Logistics. The Government is keen to understand the concerns of the Electronics industry, listen to your suggestions and walk the path together to ensure a conducive policy environment to take advantage of new technology and market disruptions like Electric Vehicles, Autonomous Vehicles and other items likely to witness mass adoption like mobile phones. There is a huge role that the Electronics industry can play in conjunction with the new generation of IT solutions and services. We in the Government would like to assure industry that we have worked hard with the industry to announce NationalPolicy on Electronics – 2019 to strengthen the ESDM ecosystem in the country. “I am happy to see Electronics players from all parts of the country being recognised for their business and innovation excellence. I congratulate ELCINA for keeping the flag of manufacturing flying high. My best wishes to all members for a bright future,” Sawhney concluded. Secretary General, ELCINA, Rajoo Goel informed the gathering about ELCINA’s untiring efforts to support ESDM manufacturing in the country. He especially brought to the notice of the gathering that ELCINA’s initiative of setting up an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster at Bhiwadi, Rajasthan is moreover functional. One of the factory has already started ites commercial production in the cluster. SGS Tekniks Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd., Gurgaon has been awarded as the winner in Exports category, Sanmina SCI India Pvt. Ltd., Kancheepuram got first prize in the category of excellence in “Quality management”, Deki Electronics Limited, Noida is awarded the first prize in “Environment”, SFO Technologies Pvt Ltd., Cochin has been awarded first prize in “Research & Development”. The awards has also been distributed in various other categories such as ENTREPRENUERIAL EXCELLENCE, BUSINESS EXCELLENCE etc. to highlight the contribution of manufacturers of ESDM industry. Dr. K Sivan, Chairman, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Bengaluru is awarded as ELCINA “Electronics Man of the Year” 2019. ELCINA takes great pride and pleasure in announcing the selection of Dr. K Sivan, Chairman, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) as the Electronics Man of the Year for 2018-19. Dr. Sivan doesn’t need any introduction today. The extraordinary feat of Chandrayaan-2 has made the entire country proud. The nation was overwhelming united on 7th September when the ambitious Chandrayaan -2 took off. India was trying to become just the fourth nation to pull off a soft landing on the moon — following the former Soviet Union, the US and China — and the only country to probe the unexplored lunar south pole. On the eve of awards a CEO Forum with the theme “Realising the Vision of a Trillion $ Digital Economy- Role of Components and Design Led Manufacturing” is also organized. The Chief Guest of the forum was Sanjay Kumar Rakesh, IAS, Jt. Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & IT, Govt of India. He mentioned that Min. of Electronics & IT is dedicated for the strength of ESDM sector and will try to provide all types of policy support for encouraging the Indian ESDM sector. In the ELCINA CEO Forum, Industry leaders shared their views regarding strengthening the ESDM sector in India. Manufacturers from various vertcals of ESDM industry participated in the forum and shared their views on the subject.
